Demon Witch

“Demon Witch” were  4 guys from Quincy.  They had a singer, but weren’t happy.   Two of the guys from the band had come to a couple of “Wired” shows.   They had approached me to come down and check them out.  They were interested in me, they thought I would be good for the band.

Well,  when “Wired” folded I went down for an audition and the rest of course is history.  “Demon Witch” unlike “Wired” did other bands songs, they were in the heavy metal vein, where “Wired” was all about original music, they were more in the hard rock vein, although we did have some heavy songs that had heavy metal written all over them.

“Demon Witch” would learn the  songs exactly, all they needed was the voice to complete the puzzle.  We were doing iron maiden, accept, Judas Priest covers, as soon as I joined the band we worked on originals.  They had 2 songs that they had already composed but needed words.  Thus was the start of a marriage made in heaven.

As soon as we learned 10 songs we started playing out live, at this time the 80 hair band movement was out.  We had the hair and the look, but we were not like “Crue” or “Ratt”.  We were more like euro heavy metal, a cross between “Metallica & “Iron Maiden”.

As  time  grew on we were making quite a stir, people started being interested in us.   We wanted to go into the studio to record a demo so we could get signed.  I don’t know what happened, one minute we were the biggest thing since sliced pie, the next I was out of the band.

They didn’t keep it together and so there after “Demon Witch” was no more.   Why? A band with so much promise just stopped existing.   Every now and then I’ll come in contact with somebody who remembers  and  they’ll  ask me what happened?  I can’t explain any of it, who knows how far we could have gone.  “Kill”Em All” by “Metallica” had just  come out, we could have been there alongside them.

We were suppose to open for “Metallica” at the “Channel” alongside with “Steal Assassin”.  It all went by the wayside when the show got cancelled due to the fact that “Metallica’s drummer Lars Ulrich couldn’t get a green card to get into the country.

Also ex-Mercyful Fate singer King Diamond was scheduled to also play the Channel, With his new band of the same name. King also couldn't get a green card into the country and that show was canceled.
